This is where we keep local residents informed of any planning applications affecting the park and immediate surrounding areas.

Unfortunately it is not unusual for affected residents or park users to only become aware of planning applications through word of mouth, often with insufficient time to object. While the FOGP committee does not usually comment as a body on planning objections, we are happy to post details on our social media channels. So if you become aware of a planning application affecting Goddington Park residents and/or park users, please let us know as soon as possible.

October 2025

Remedial works to the anti bike barriers installed earlier in the year will take place in the second week of October. These are:

  • Goddington Lane Entrance (near to Bowls Club) – Revision to the entrance to ensure sufficient manoeuvrability space for disability access.

  • Entrance by Goddington Manor – Creation of new entrance with a different restriction, as the current interventions are directly blocking a Public Right of Way.

  • Chelsfield Lane Entrance – Alteration to the entrance to ensure better disability access.

  • Additional Fencing – There has also been some additional fencing put in place that was not authorised by the Council and is directly blocking a Public Right of Way next to the farmers field which will be removed.

The above is in response to issues raised by park users and it’s great to see the council and Orpington FC responding positively.

Berrylands planning application

A planning application has been made to build 3x 2 storey houses at the bottom of a former garden with access from Berrylands opposite the small playground entrance. You can see the planning application here. 48 objections have been made which you can read here.

March 2025

Proposed housing developments around Chelsfield Lane, a designated Greenbelt area. Current applications focus on Derry Downs and if passed, may lead to further development applications in the future. Find out more here, or visit the Derry Downs Greenbelt Future Facebook page.

November 2024

A planning application has been made for demolition and construction on private land which backs on to the park at the Chelsfield Lane area. Three sycamores in the park are identified within the application which has given consideration to works allowing sufficient root protection area. The trees are subject to Tree Preservation Orders. The committee does not intend to lodge any objections as the development takes place on private land,, there are no proposals to fell trees and no apparent impact on the flora and fauna within the park. Should a future application be made to fell trees, we would of course lodge an objection. You can view the application here. The reference is 24/03957/FULL1.

Thank you to the residents who drew our attention to the application and do please keep us informed if you hear of any application that may affect the park.

November 2023

The planning application from Orpington Football Club was decided upon at the planning committee on 9th November and representatives of Goddington Park residents attended.

The application was passed however the council website has not yet been updated with details of the decision and it is understood there were some restrictions applied. The planning application details can be viewed here. You can see a mock up of the new pavilion in July’s Orpington 1st.

In 2021, Orpington Football Club applied to Bromley Council to demolish the existing pavilion and build a new two storey building at the upper end of the park between the tennis court and Park Lodge. This application was rejected because the proposal is in a Green Belt area. Orpington Football Club held a consultation in May to tell the community about their plans to submit a fresh, slightly revised, application. We’ll keep you posted when the application is live so that you may comment if you wish. Also keep an eye on our Latest News page.
