This is where we share our ideas for the park - and we’d like your ideas too!

Our overall vision is for a park that can be enjoyed by all. Unfortunately enjoyment of the park can be spoiled by a few and at the moment motorbikes are causing a nuisance, causing alarm and potential injury to park users, and damage to the fields.

Orpington Football Club have been successful in obtaining funds for motorbike deterrent measures around the park. These were provided by the Football Foundation. Bromley Council, FOGP and Orpington Football Club have collaborated on the location of chicanes, metal post and rail fencing and new inhibitors. These were installed earlier this year (2025). So far reports indicate that there are fewer motorbike incursions.

Our Vision for the Park

At the moment we are focussing on refurbishment of the under 5s play area at the Berrylands end of the park. To register your support (we need 100 supporters) please scroll down to the foot of the page and leave your details.

Our 3 phase development plan includes:

  • New play equipment and surfacing in the under 5s playground. A new car, slide and climbing tower, a spinner and two new wobblers were installed in 2023.

  • The next phase includes new swings, an accessible roundabout and new seesaw. Phase 3 would see a woodland trim trail with timber log walks and balance beams.

  • We also want to install benches and picnic tables in the under 5s playground. Currently fundraising for these.

  • We’d like to run more activities for park visitors. We’ve introduced a Dawn Chorus Walk and Teddy Bear’s Picnic, which we hope will become regular events.

  • Other ideas include events such as Bee Day, Earth Day, night time bat walks

  • We’d like more benches across the park and a new interpretation board

  • We’d love to see raised beds for planting projects with local primary schools and the Family and Children’s Centre.

If you have ideas for something you would like to see in the park, please email us at friendsofgoddingtonpark@yahoo.com.

Families told us:

“Definitely refurbish the playground. My children grew up playing on the roundabout and climbing frame 10 years ago.”

“Our under 5s need…a safe play area , make social contacts and enjoy being outside in the fresh air.”

“The playground is very much needed as there is no other nearby play area for the people living on this side of Goddington Park. The one on the other side is too far away for young children.

“It would be great to breathe new life into this playground.”

We know our vision will take a lot of time and effort to make a reality. We’ll be applying for grants as well as fundraising. We’ll be relying on a lot of volunteer help and expertise too. If you would like to help then please join us! and if you have other ideas you would like to see happen in the park, then please tell us about them at the foot of this page.

This is how the playground area could look:
